All currently enrolled students’ campus cards will be active until the first day of summer semester classes. Keep up your fitness routine over the summer by purchasing a summer-student membership. These $40 memberships are available to all students who were enrolled in spring semester. The membership is payable by check, cash or debit/credit card at the Member Services desk and is valid until the first day of fall semester. Please note: in order for your household and dependant memberships to remain active, you are required to purchase the summer-student membership.

Get Moving!
This month's fitness tip is the most simple of them all; move more! Forty percent of adults in the U.S. live sedentary lifestyles and do not participate in any leisure-time physical activity.
Physical activity can have positive affects far beyond weight control; like preventing heart disease, regulating cholesterol levels, lowering risks to certain cancers, and can even reduce anxiety and depression. The surgeon general recommends 30 minutes of moderate physical activity (brisk walk) for an active, healthy lifestyle. The secret is that the 30 minutes is your choice; walking, racquetball, swimming, etc.
If you try to begin an active lifestyle, gradually work your way into it. Start with short 10 minute bouts of physical activity around three times a week, then progress to the goal of 30 minutes, 5 days a week. You can also participate in three 10 minute bouts of physical activity throughout your day to equal 30 minutes of physical activity. It does not necessarily have to all be done all at one time. The benefits of an active lifestyle are definitely worth 30 minutes of your time.

in the Fitness Center. Workout attire consists of: workout pants/shorts, full T-shirt that covers the entire back, shoulders and torso, and closed-toe athletic shoes. The following attire is prohibited: jeans, cargo pants/shorts,
tank-tops, sports bras, t-shirts that do not cover the entire back, shoulders and torso, and any open-toe footwear, boots, or flip-flops.
