The Campus Recreation Center offers a variety of positions with flexible hours, practical work experience and a fun work environment, all with a great on-campus location.

Campus Rec is hiring for the following positions:

Intramural Sports Official

Responsibilities:

Officiate UAB Intramural Sports events (i.e. Flag Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Softball). Assist in answering questions regarding Intramural Sports rules.

Preferred Qualities:

We are looking for people with professional attitudes; people who are punctual and willing to listen and learn.

  • Successful officials are able to be assertive during games.
  • Pay Rate is $8.05 an hour.
  • Hours are Monday - Thursday 6PM-11PM (this time varies)

Outdoor Pursuits Rental Assistants

Responsibilities:

Manage operations of Outdoor Equipment check out. Assist in answering questions regarding Outdoor Pursuits Programs and sign-ups.

Preferred Qualities:

  • UAB student who has been awarded federal work study.
  • Successful candidates must work at least one weekend shift per month (a Saturday or a Sunday) (If performance is to standard, spring schedule can be flexible).
  • Pay rate is $6.55 per hour
  • Workers should expect about 10 hours per week during the semester

The regular wall hours are: Monday – Thursday 11AM to 9PM, Friday – Saturday 11AM to 7PM,, and Sunday 11AM to 6 PM.

Climbing Wall Supervisors

Responsibilities:

Supervising all aspects of the Climbing Wall including monitoring patrons for safety, and providing instruction.

Preferred Qualities:

  • UAB student, experienced climber, who has been awarded federal work study.
  • Indoor or outdoor climbing or bouldering experience.
  • Successful candidates must work at least one weekend shift per month (a Saturday or a Sunday) (If performance is to standard, spring schedule can be flexible).
  • Pay rate is $7.55 per hour.
  • Workers should expect about 10 hours per week during the semester
